In July of 1992 was established by Rita and Paola Levi-Montalcini, in memory of his father Adam, Levi, Levi-Montalcini Foundation Onlus, with the motto "The future for youth" in order to facilitate orientation to study and work of new generations, became operational in November of that year.
In January 2001, as proposed and agreed by members of the Board of Directors, have made major amendments to the Statute of the Foundation under its new name "Rita Levi-Montalcini Foundation Onlus.
In the poorest regions of the planet denied attendance at primary school strikes, mostly, the female component, with implications both in family life and the social influence also the rate of malnutrition of children and thus child mortality. To this end, the Foundation Rita Levi-Montalcini Onlus target its objectives towards support to the studies of young women, particularly in the African continent.
The Foundation is committed to promoting education through the award of scholarships for admission to primary school, secondary, vocational, university and post-graduate education. Over the past eight years has provided economic support to some 10,000 girls and young women reported by religious and secular organizations that operate in local communities in Africa.
Also 63 Somali children have benefited, for three school years, the scholarships funded through the Una Scuola per La Vita association by the Foundation Rita Levi-Montalcini.
